“I knew I wanted a Doula for my fourth and final birth but had left it quite late to organise. I was going back and forth with the idea of Homebirth, but after a previous emergency c-section and having to transfer my care to the local hospital, I decided on Birth Centre at the hospital I work at. I have known Daria for years and knew that she would be the perfect support person for me during my labour and birth.

We discussed my labour and birth preferences, and what her role would be during the process. I called Daria as soon as I started to have contractions, as it was my fourth baby we knew things could ramp up quickly. She came over early on and spent the afternoon helping me look after my toddler - as my husband had taken our older two to the cinema! I was able to prep final bits to take to the hospital, shower etc and then get in the zone. She played my playlist and encouraged me to bounce on my ball.

Once my husband got home Daria and I went for a walk to encourage my contractions. Things sped up pretty quickly so we decided to head to the hospital. My mum came to collect the children and we set off. Once we were there, Daria took charge in communicating to the midwife my preferences, asking them to run the water for the pool etc. labour was pretty quick from this point and it wasn’t long before I needed to push. Daria ensured my hypno birthing playlist was still running, massaged my back using essential oils and pressure points and most importantly for us, filmed the birth!

After baby was born Daria was quietly in the background tidying up, allowing the three of us to bond. She left soon after this but was available for support via messaging.
I wouldn’t have had the birth experience I had without Daria and I can’t recommend her enough!”
