about me
-
My doula journey began in 2022 when my best friend asked me to be her birth partner. I was honoured and accepted immediately, and the experience was one of the most transformative of my life. Witnessing new life arriving in the world was like a veil had been lifted, and I knew I wanted to experience this again and again.
Since giving birth to my first child in 2013, I have been passionate about advocating for women’s rights to have autonomy over their birth experiences. I believe that we are active participants in labour and birth, but we are sometimes taught that labour is something that happens to us rather than something we do. I will empower you to step into the strength you have within you and have the birth experience you deserve.
I have given birth myself twice, and had two very different experiences. This and my work as a doula have taught me that there are two factors that influence our birth stories - number one is knowledge, and number two is the people in the room with you. With a combination of thorough preparation and committed support, I will work with you to create a positive and informed environment for your birth and post natal period.
I am particularly interested in the fourth trimester, those first twelve weeks with your baby when you need support the most. I love to support new parents practically and emotionally, And I bring my passion for cooking into my doula offering, working with you to ensure you are nourished and cared for in those precious first weeks.
I am committed to supporting every new parent find the right doula care for them, whether it’s full support from pregnancy and birth through to baby’s first twelve weeks, or with planning and preparation so you are confident in stepping into those phases as a family. Doula care is truly for everyone, not only those interested in alternative or spiritual practices, although we can certainly explore plant medicine, meditation and home birthing if you wish, but I want to normalise doula work for every family. You don’t have to be having a home birth, practicing hypnobirthing or planning to breastfeed to hire a doula. You can be a traditional family or a single parent, any age, any background and any walk of life. Prioritising this special time should be a given for everyone, and I’m here to help you do just that.

There are many things that you may have assumed about doulas or the families who enlist their services, and many are just not true! Here are some of the more common ones:
Doulas only cover home births
Not true! It may be a preference for some doulas but most like me are honoured to be part of any birth. Home, hospital, vaginal, c-section, induction, whatever your choice and journey I am there for you.
Only hippies use doulas (and doulas are hippies)
Now there is definitely nothing wrong with being a hippie, but the doula world has suffered from this stereotype from the beginning. If you aren’t at all interested in alternative practices, you still need a doula! All the meditation, rituals, plant medicine and crystals some doulas offer are only the icing on the cake to what their core service is, care of mother and baby.
A doula helps at the birth and that’s it
Doulas are so much more than just birth supporters. We offer emotional and practical support before and after you give birth, gentle advice on those early days with baby, and a willing ear to listen. That’s why even if you already have your birth partner spots filled, you can still benefit from a doula’s care.
